Leveraging Social Media In New Ways: The “Phonebooth” Experiment

I’ve already done a general blog post about what I learned from Social Fresh-Charlotte. But, it wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the amazing work that Chris Moody (@cnmoody) and his team are doing with Phonebooth (@Phonebooth).

This is another company, like Blue Sky Factory, that I will definitely be watching closely in the near future.

For starters, their creativity constantly blows me away. Chris and his team are leveraging social media in brilliant and effective ways. This is particularly true with their hands-on customer service approach for their Twitter account.

Their experiment at Social Fresh was no exception. Conference attendees could walk into this makeshift phonebooth and instantly be connected with one of twelve well-known social media professionals.

First and foremost, the experiment is simple, but beyond creative. The, “Why didn’t I think of that” approach holds true. It simplified the process and allowed social media enthusiasts to ask questions and seek advice from well-established social media pros. This was an innovative way to showcase a product while still making sure it tied into the Social Fresh conference atmosphere.

I can’t wait to see what Chris and his team come up with next.
