What I’ve Been Reading: December Top Picks

Happy (almost) New Year! If one of your New Year’s Resolutions is to read more, I may be able to help. On the last Sunday of every month, I share recommendations to 4 thought-provoking things I read – or in some cases – listened to.

1. I can count on one hand the number of people that I’ll read anything they write. Derek Sivers is one of those people. His latest post doesn’t disappoint. It is a must-read about untangling places and goals.

2. In the age of social media notifications and instant gratification, the ability to focus and do deep work is becoming an increasingly rare skill. This post from Taylor Pearson, outlines three of the biggest focus failures.

3. What’s the weakness or weirdness that you’ve tried to hide or bury that you can bring out and possibly explore sharing? This can be a superpower when tapped into correctly. This is one of a dozen questions and insights that I took away from listening to this 2-hour long podcast conversation between James Altucher and Tim Ferriss.

4. Over the last month, I’ve started to seek out and read more about blockchain technology.  Admittedly, I dismissed it for awhile thinking it was only about bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. I quickly realize that’s only a tiny fraction of what it can do. This article is probably the best intro to blockchain guide I’ve come across.

What are you reading right now? Send me an email here. The only thing I love more than reading is getting thoughtful recommendations for what I should read next.
