Copywriting

From site redesigns and landing pages to email drip campaigns and newsletters, I write copy for B2B SaaS, professional service firms and agencies.

These days, I do a lot of work producing marketing copy to support demand gen, product marketing, and sales enablement efforts.

My Process

I always start with a process, because it ensures you get the copy you are actually looking for in less time and with less back-and-forth revisions.

1. Writing a creative brief

A clear, detailed project brief is key to any successful piece of marketing copy.

Why? Because it answers the important questions:

  • Who is your ICP?
  • What is your angle and positioning?
  • What additional elements are needed for this project?

Never written a project brief? No problem.

After writing hundreds – maybe thousands – of project briefs, I turned my project brief template into a simple questionnaire that I’ll share with you.

Best part – it will only take you – or someone on your team – less than 15 minutes to fill it out. It saves time on back-and-forth Zoom calls and reduces the amount of editing time.

2. Getting to know your customers, product or services

I do an initial dive into your brand, your product(s), and your ICP.

Now, every project is custom, but here are some things that I might do during this phase:

  • Discovery call with you
  • Interview a handful of customers
  • Listen to a handful of sales and support call recordings.
  • Conducting SME  interviews

Every project is different but every client wants the final project in their hands quickly. That’s why I do everything I can to ramp up and shorten the research process. For most projects, I can do this within 1-2 weeks.

3. Outlining

Whether I do this in a Google Doc for a sales outreach campaign, a Miro board for an email nurture sequence or in a lo-fi mockup in Figma for landing pages, the process is similar.

The goal is to map out all of the elements needed for this project. For new clients, I share the outline. Early feedback helps cut down on the editing cycle and makes sure we’re all on the same page.

4. Copywriting

At this point, all that’s left to do is turn the outline into polished copy.

Once the copy is ready to go within the agreed upon deadline, it’s sent to you for review.

My typical turnaround times are 5-10 business days.

5. Revising

I want all of my clients to get work that not only produces results but also that they genuinely love.

That’s why I offer up to 2 rounds of revisions for each project.

6. Producing Lo-Fi Mockups

At the revision stage, I can also produce another lo-fi mockup in Figma with all of the copy included.

Then, I’ll work with you and your designer (or design team) to get this project mocked up.

7. Analysis

Once the project is live, we’ll do a post-mortem. In addition, I’m happy to provide a report 30 or 90 days post-launch.
